Andrew Klane retired from the Massachusetts State Police in August of 2017, after 29 years of service, holding the rank of Lieutenant. He was assigned to the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) for 25 years. Upon promotion to the rank of Lieutenant in 2009, Andrew was the Section Commander of the statewide CARS Unit. The CARS unit was comprised of 25 sworn Collision Reconstructionists as well as civilian support staff.
Andrew has reconstructed over 1000 serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes. He has testified over 150 times as an expert witness in both District and Superior Courts throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and held the position of board member on the ACTAR governing board of directors. Andrew represented the Massachusetts State Police on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Task Force. He was responsible for the selection and implementation of technology to facilitate CARS achieving the Departments quick clearance initiative which he participated in developing. Andrew was responsible for the design and implementation of the UAS (Drone) program for the Massachusetts State Police, used specifically for the quick clearance of traffic crashes. Andrew holds an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate and is a proficient UAS Pilot.
Since his retirement from the Massachusetts State Police Andrew continued to work as an accredited crash reconstructionist and was the President of Klane and Associates, a collision forensics firm that he founded in 2017. Andrew built a successful business that provided crash reconstruction and forensic services to many of the major law firms and insurance companies predominantly in the northeast.
In May of 2024 Andrew began the next chapter in his professional career accepting a position as a Forensic Expert with Aperture LLC, a forensic engineering services platform company, where he will continue working as an Accident Reconstructionist as well as establishing and managing a thriving Aperture full-service office in the northeast.
