Brian K. Jones
Brian Jones is an Accident Reconstruction/Biomechanical Specialist and Forensic Expert with Aperture (formerly American Bio Engineers). Brian is a licensed professional engineer and holds full accreditation as a traffic accident reconstructionist with ACTAR. Brian is certified by the Bosch/Vetronix Corporation to download and analyze crash data and has worked as an expert witness in court on hundreds of occasions.
In 1994, Brian received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. At North Carolina State University, Brian was a Dean’s List student and vice president of the NCSU chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Interested in the design and safety of motor vehicles, Brian focused his elective studies on automotive engineering and internal combustion engines. Over the course of his career, Brian became involved in occupant safety and injury biomechanics. As a result, he entered graduate school and obtained a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in biomechanics and human factors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2008.
Since completion of his undergraduate studies, Brian has reconstructed thousands of motor vehicle/pedestrian accidents, performed hundreds of biomechanical and mechanical engineering analyses, and analyzed numerous slip/trip and fall incidents. Brian has also performed hundreds of instrumented crash tests pursuant to SAE J211 standards for research purposes and continuing education crash conferences. Much of this research, gained through instrumented crash testing, has been published through the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) peer reviewed technical paper series.
Brian is a professional member of the International Research Council on Biomechanics of Injury (IRCOBI), Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS), Southwest Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI), American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Finally, Brian is a proficient operator of the 3D Human Vehicle Environment (HVE) collision software produced by Engineering Dynamics Corporation, PC Crash simulation software, and FARO Scene Scanner software.
