Work Experience

Aperture (formerly Scientific Analysis, Incorporated), Current, Accident Reconstructionist

  • Assist in the investigation, reconstruction, and analysis of both passenger and commercial vehicle accidents through the use of scientific processes
  • Accident scene and vehicle inspection, photography, and measurement
  • Production of trial and testimony aids such as accident scene diagrams, maps, and reconstruction exhibits

Occidental Petroleum Corporation, July 2015 - August 2018, Drilling Engineer

  • Wrote drilling procedures and oversaw drilling operations for dozens of Midland Basin 7,500’-10,000’ horizontal wells in the Spraberry and Wolfcamp formations
  • Wrote drilling procedure for Oxy’s first 12,500’ horizontal wells in the Permian Basin
  • Performed engineering studies and led efforts to implement casing floatation in long laterals in the Permian Basin to help reduce drag while running casing
  • Designed BHA to deepen vertical wells while holding inclination, without the need for a bent motor
  • Directed drilling operations and supervised third party contractors in a safe, efficient manner while working as Drill Site Manager in the Permian Basin
  • Implemented drilling engineering solutions that resulted in multiple wells being drilled 20% under AFE (authorization for expenditure)
  • Optimized bit/motor combination in the curve section to eliminate the need for a vertical BHA prior to drilling the curve – approximately 20 hours / $100,000 savings per well
  • Collaborated with drill bit vendors to design a bit with a success rate over 90% of drilling one-run 10,000’ lateral sections without failure
  • Provided a parameter guideline to directional drillers that resulted in a 66 hour 10,000’ lateral section with a conventional mud motor, including a 3500’ section without sliding

EOG Resources, May 2014 - August 2014, Drilling Engineer Intern

  • Analyzed the financial and technical benefits of a two-string casing design over a previously used three-string design in west Texas oil wells in the Leonard Shale
  • Wrote an AFE for proposed design of more than $2.1 million
  • Observed the implementation of proposed design, including rig time and performance analysis
  • Attended daily drilling meetings and worked closely with engineers to create a drilling program for a casing elimination project, resulting in savings of more than $450,000 and six days per well

Delta Country Club: Board of Directors, May 2014 - August 2014, Co-Golf Course Director

  • Assist with decisions involving the club finances, land, and purchases
  • Responsible for all decisions involving golf course
  • Relay information from Members to Directors
