Matt Levan retired from the Sugar Land Police Department in Sugar Land, Texas after over 28 years of service, holding the rank of Sergeant. He was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division for 20 years and supervised the Major Crimes Unit being responsible for case management and supervision of serious felony investigations. Matt was a member of the local Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force and personally investigated many electronic crimes. 

 Matt has been a digital forensics examiner for over 15 years. He is a certified forensic computer examiner (CFCE) and certified mobile device examiner (ICMDE) through the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). He has conducted well over 700 forensic exams on items of digital evidence including cell phones, computers, vehicle infotainment systems, external hard and thumb drives, etc. Matt was responsible for the analysis and interpretation of the data located on many of these devices in support of investigations.  He has provided expert testimony in State courts. 

In June of 2024 Matt began the next chapter in his professional career accepting a position as a Forensic Expert with Aperture LLC, a forensic engineering services platform company, where he will continue working as a Digital forensics examiner at the Houston, Texas office.
