Omar Kaayal
Omar Kaayal is an Accident Reconstructionist and Human Factors/Biomechanics Analyst with Aperture (formerly VA Forensics). In his work with Aperture, Omar applies engineering principles and biomechanics knowledge to deliver forensically-sound reports and investigations for accidents. This work includes accidents involving motor vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, and occupants. During his time with Aperture, Omar has attended multiple accident reconstruction conferences and has completed courses in Heavy Vehicle EventData Recorders (HVEDR), human factors, biomechanics, and simulation software. He has participated in instrumented crash tests as an occupant as well as assisted with the instrumentation of the crash vehicles. His analyses are specific to the understanding of the human body’s tolerances, including kinematic and kinetic response to loads and injuries.
In 2017, Omar graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering with a focus in biomechanics from the University of California, Riverside. He is currently in the process of obtaining a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of California, Riverside.
Omar uses various methods of current impact mechanics and accident reconstruction to reconstruct an event, incorporating data imaging of Event Data Recorders (EDR) and Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders (HVEDR), Delta-V analysis, 3D Laser Scanning, simulation software, and aerial drone technology. Omar is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) as a traffic accident reconstructionist. He is a member of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI), National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS), California Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (CA2RS), and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

Work Experience
Aperture LLC, Carlsbad, CA (formerly VA Forensics), February 2019 - Present, Forensic Expert - Accident Reconstruction & Biomechanics
- Private practice specializing in Accident Reconstruction and Forensic Biomechanics. Analyses and specialties include and are not limited to severity assessment, rapid response, speed analysis, perception reaction times, liability, collision avoidance, vehicle systems/dynamics, Crash Data Retrieval (CDR), Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders (HVEDR), bicycle and pedestrian collisions, computer simulations (PC-Crash), photogrammetry, slip/trip-and-falls, and occupant kinematics.
- Perform extensive analyses of human injury from events including motor vehicle collisions, workplace-related incidences, and trip and falls.
- Analyze data specific to the human body’s kinematic and kinetic responses to varying loading modes to delineate the causal relationship between event and injury.
