Jury Finds Samsung owes $67.5M in 5G Patent Case

Stephen Dell, EVP, Senior Managing Director – Economic Consulting with Aperture (formerly Novum Consulting Group), was retained as the damages expert on behalf of G+ Communications, where he provided testimony regarding the reasonable royalty damages owed by Samsung resulting from its infringement of G+’s patents related to 5G cellular communications technologies.

The trial that began on January 22nd was overseen by Chief District Judge Rodney Gilstrap. The jury found Samsung infringed two G+ patents and awarded G+ running royalty damages for past infringement totaling $67.5 million, and a FRAND running royalty of approximately $1.50 per unit for each Samsung 5G device.
