Jury Hits Samsung with a $142M Loss in 5G Patent Retrial

Stephen Dell, EVP, Senior Managing Director – Economic Consulting with Aperture (formerly Novum Consulting Group), was retained as the damages expert on behalf of G+ Communications, where he provided testimony regarding the reasonable royalty damages owed by Samsung resulting from its infringement of G+’s patents related to 5G cellular communications technologies.

The damages retrial began on April 15th and was overseen by Chief District Judge Rodney Gilstrap. The jury determined that Samsung owes G+ Communications $142 million in damages for its infringement of G+’s patents, the same amount Mr. Dell testified to at trial. This is a significant win for G+.
